Living Room
Another part of the Step-by-Step House Cleaning Checklist is the Living Room. The first room that needs cleaning is your living area. These are usually rooms with carpeting or upholstery where dirt accumulates in high traffic areas. Start in the center of your living area and work towards each wall.
Cleaning supplies needed:
All-purpose spray cleaner for surfaces in the living room not covered by furniture (TVs, tables), dusting cloth or cleaning wipes for TVs/tablets/surfaces with screens if they are dirty.
Dusting:
Dust your furniture and lamps. For cleaning glass surfaces like coffee tables, use an all-purpose spray cleaner on a microfiber cloth to safely clean those delicate areas. Dust all surfaces in the living room- be sure to dust the tops of shelves, bookcases, and TV stands where dirt can accumulate if you don’t want this area dirtied when cleaning.
Vacuuming:
Vacuum under the couch cushions and all the way around your living room to get dirt that may have escaped cleaning. Sweep or vacuum the floor to get rid of any dirt that may have accumulated here over time! If you have stainless steel appliances, use cleaning wipes instead as these do not need a lot of cleaning, and cleaning wipes can simply be used on a surface without worrying about cleaning material getting into small spaces.
Vacuuming:

Dusting:
Dust these areas to get rid of the dirt that may have accumulated over time on the countertops here. If you have a cleaning solution left over, use it here since this is an area where dirt can accumulate! Also, make sure to dust tabletops and other surfaces that are in close range of these areas.

Sweep or vacuum the floor around these areas to get rid of the dirt that may have accumulated on this area over time. Dish soap, dishwasher detergent, sponges (if you have a dishwasher), cleaning wipes, cleaning powder for oven and refrigerator.
Dusting:
Dust all of your cabinets and appliances like the microwave or stovetop with a dry cloth to get rid of surface dirt on those areas. Keep dusting along top edges where dust can accumulate- above windows and doors as well as light fixtures. Do not forget the ceiling!
Vacuuming:
Sweep or vacuum the floor to get rid of any dirt that may have accumulated there. You can also use cleaning wipes on your countertops, table, and chairs if you need a quick clean up- just be sure they are dry before using! Sink cleaning:
If you have hard water stains or calcium build-up, use baking soda and vinegar to make a paste. Rub the paste on with a sponge (or an old toothbrush for harder areas) where there is buildup and watch it disappear! Rinse well when done cleaning with a cleaning cloth or sponge under running water.

Sweep or vacuum near floors and around baseboards where dirt can accumulate if you don’t want to wipe down these surfaces each time you clean your bathroom!
